Culver City —
A hidden gem that has been blossoming since its downtown renovation in the late 90’s, steeped in motion picture history and host to a thriving and expanding entertainment industry (Sony Pictures, among others), as well as much other technology and communications companies.
Although some people are critical of Culver’s less affluent circumstances (Culver is largely comprised of mid-sized homes originally built to house studio members), much of that criticism is very old news and the town is vibrant, alive and perhaps one of the best investment values on the “Westside”. As its own incorporated city (surrounded by City of Los Angeles), Culver City has terrific services and local schools, as well as a unique and youthful downtown energy.
Located 15 minutes inland from the ocean, Culver City is more central to other Los Angeles areas and is popular for those wanting to be part of the “Westside” but also needing to be in midtown (Beverly Hills, Hollywood, etc.) or even Downtown. Freeways are all convenient, as is the recent Exposition Metro line, making Culver City one of the few towns where public metro rail transit from the “Westside” is a legitimate option.
Homes
Many IDX providers allow you to create saved searches to link to. This can be for homes based on price range or property characteristics.
Schools
School district boundaries may modify annually. Don’t rely on maps, neighbors, etc. go straight to the source, the school district. When you are excited about a specific property, call that school district directly and verify the property is indeed a section of their territory. Ensure that the particular schools you desire are exclusive for that exact home. Don’t depend on a map, which might be outdated.
