Venice —
Venice has some of the oldest history of the Westside of Los Angeles, with plenty of high profile events and news even in present-day. In the early 1900’s, Venice was formed as the “Coney Island of the Pacific’ and quickly became a beach destination competing with Santa Monica for attention.
Then, like now, Venice also drew a creative, bohemian, artist community and is known as a more ‘edgy’ eclectic community where anything can happen. Of late, Google, Yahoo, and several other high-tech and advertising companies have made Venice (and Playa Vista) their home – so the neighborhood has definitely gentrified over the past decade — sporting some of the highest priced homes, per square foot, in all of Los Angeles.
For those who connect with Venice, no other neighborhood will ever substitute – whether it’s because of the unique Venice Canal strolls, the Venice boardwalk beach oddities, or the Abbot Kinney boutiques, Venice embodies all the colorful slices of Los Angeles into a single small neighborhood. Like Santa Monica, there is also plenty of restaurants, nightlife, and outdoor activities, as well as sections of the community for high-end rentals.
Homes
Many IDX providers allow you to create saved searches to link to. This can be for homes based on price range or property characteristics.
Schools
School district boundaries may modify annually. Don’t rely on maps, neighbors, etc. go straight to the source, the school district. When you are excited about a specific property, call that school district directly and verify the property is indeed a section of their territory. Ensure that the particular schools you desire are exclusive for that exact home. Don’t depend on a map, which might be outdated.
